More rain expected across the country

account_balanceMetro Manila chat_bubble_outline0 Comments

Most parts of the country will continue to experience rain because of the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon affecting southern Luzon and the Visayas, a weather specialist said Friday.

As of 3 a.m., the LPA was last spotted 325 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, or 520 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon.

"This will cause rains, especially in the eastern part of the country," said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), the Bicol Region, central and eastern Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga are forecast to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA.

The same weather condition will prevail over Region 4-B (Mimaropa) and Western Visayas due to the southwest monsoon.

Bulquerin said the rest of the country will have fair weather but may experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas. Coastal waters in these areas will be moderate to rough.

Over Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
