Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso asked the Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB) to intensify its routine meat inspections in the nation's capital.

During an urgent broadcast of #TheCapitalReport, Domagoso said he has also requested the VIB to deploy checkpoints at piers and other entry points to the city.

"My order to the VIB inspectors is for them to double-time their inspections. I have also ordered the creation of checkpoints at our ports and other entry points," the Mayor said.

Likewise, the Mayor also urged consumers to be observant and vigilant when purchasing meat from public markets.

"Please be vigilant. Health certificates are important when selling meat. That's the strict order I gave to the Veterinary Inspection board," Domagoso said.

"These products should have the appropriate meat inspection certificates from the accredited slaughterhouses," he stressed.
