Cong. Maan Teodoro and Mayor Marcy Teodoro, together with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD), have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to enhance Maternal Health Care (MHC) services in the City of Marikina.

The signing of the MOA is part of the city's weekly flag-raising program, where DOH-MMCHD Regional Director Dr. Aleli Sudiacal and DOST-NCR ORD OIC Engr. Romelen Tresvalles also signed the agreement.

The provision of 19 Rx Boxes, a 6-in-1 portable medical diagnostic device that includes a blood pressure monitor, electrocardiogram or ECG, pulse oximeter, maternal tocometer, fetal monitor, and thermometer, by the DOST will help promote the advocacy for Maternal Health Care in the city. These devices can determine the physiological parameters of the mother and the baby, such as heart rate, pulse rate, blood pressure, oxygenation, maternal uterine contraction, heart rhythm and electrical activity, and fetal heart rate.

As part of the program, Mayor Marcy instructed the City Health Office to efficiently use the Rx Boxes in Health Centers and ensure their proper usage to benefit more people.

Meanwhile, in her message, Cong. Maan expressed her desire to subsidize or finance the payments of those in need of maternal health care services in the city's health centers under her office. This is in line with the Universal Health Care Act, which is vigorously promoted by the Marikina City Government, in partnership with Cong. Maan Teodoro's office, to ensure the welfare and health of mothers and their babies in Marikina.

As part of promoting a safe city in the current hot weather, Mayor Marcy instructed Rescue 161 to include monitoring the oxygen levels of City Government employees in their basic medical emergency services as part of health and safety protocols.
