Marikina sustains river dredging

Marikina City has been known to be prone to flooding especially during the rainy season due to its proximity to the Marikina River. To address this issue, the local government has been implementing regular dredging activities to increase the water-carrying capacity of the river and prevent it from overflowing. Recently, Congresswoman Maan Teodoro's office has provided additional funding to support the city's efforts in dredging the river.

Dredging is the process of removing sediment and debris from the bottom of bodies of water to increase its depth and improve its water flow. In Marikina, the dredging activities are conducted regularly to ensure that the river can accommodate the excess water during heavy rains. The city government, with the help of Congresswoman Maan Teodoro's office, has been continuously conducting dredging activities to deepen and widen the Marikina River.

According to the residents of Marikina, they have noticed a significant improvement in the river's water-carrying capacity since the dredging activities started. During the recent typhoons, such as Bagyong Karding and Bagyong Paeng, the residents were surprised and delighted that they did not experience flooding despite the heavy rainfall.

The regular dredging activities have proven to be effective in preventing the river from overflowing and causing damage to properties and endangering the lives of the residents.

The local government, with the guidance of Mayor Marcy Teodoro and the support of Congresswoman Maan Teodoro's office, plans to continue the dredging activities in the Marikina River.

They also have plans for riverside development projects that will not only improve the river's water-carrying capacity but also beautify the surrounding areas. These projects aim to provide a better living environment for the residents while ensuring their safety during the rainy season.
