Marikina gears up for Palarong Pambansa 2023

Marikina City is gearing up for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, which is set to happen in just 88 days. The city was chosen as the host for the event, which will be the first time it will be held after the COVID-19 pandemic. The opening ceremony will take place on July 31, 2023, at the Marikina Sports Center (MSC), and various sports competitions will be held from August 1-5, 2023.

The city has been preparing for this momentous occasion, and Mayor Marcy Teodoro recently led a walk-thru at the Sto. Niño Elementary School, one of the billeting venues for the participants. He was accompanied by department heads from the local government, as well as principals and teachers who will oversee the facilities. Mayor Marcy assured everyone that the event will be safe, well-organized, and convenient for the thousands of delegates expected to visit from different parts of the country.

The Palarong Pambansa is a showcase of the sporting talents of student-athletes from different cities and municipalities across the Philippines. This year, they will compete for gold medals in various sports, including archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, boxing, chess, dance sports, football, futsal, goal ball, bocce, gymnastics, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling, and wushu.

The event is not only a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills but also an opportunity to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie. With Marikina City's preparations, everyone is looking forward to an exciting and successful Palarong Pambansa come July 2023.
