Marikina City will deploy traffic auxiliary enforcers along Marcos Highway and Katipunan Avenue to help enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) address the traffic situation in the two major roads.
"Marikina is committed as an auxiliary force in terms of equipment, personnel, in case of vehicular accidents, stalled vehicles along Marcos Highway and along Katipunan area,” Mayor Marcelino Teodoro was quoted as saying in a report by Philippine News Agency.

Teodoro made the commitment to MMDA East Sector head Randy Cerbito who paid a courtesy call on him at the City Hall. “We will commit our personnel to you. Let's have close coordination,” he said.

In case of accidents, Teodoro said their wrecker and other heavy equipment are ready to clear vehicles and other obstructions that cause traffic in an area, especially along Marcos Highway.

The local chief executive said that they have other equipment that MMDA could use to clear the road, saying that the Marikina City government is just one call away to respond.

But the mayor clarified that such operations are still under the supervision of MMDA. The only intention is to immediately clear the Marcos Highway in case of an accident.

He also said that they will work hand-in-hand with the agency in clearing illegally parked vehicles in the city.

Teodoro also vowed that Marikina City government will provide additional signages for the MMDA.

Tutulong kami sa kakulangan ng (We will help in addressing the lack of) signages. We are going to help the MMDA. Ganoon naman angcommitment namin kay (That is our commitment to) Chairman (Danny) Lim,” he said.

The MMDA representative told Mayor Teodoro that they need extra signages that they can place along roads. The mayor immediately promised to provide what MMDA needs to better regulate the traffic.

Teodoro also asked the MMDA to help them in dismantling illegal structures in the city.
