Navotas City produced new skilled workers following the graduation of 305 trainees of Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute.

Out of this number, 233 completed the NAVOTAAS Institute Scholarship Program funded by the city government and 72 were under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) and Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Of these graduates, 167 have already taken and passed their competency assessment while the remaining completers are awaiting their respective exam schedules.

In his speech, Mayor Toby Tiangco congratulated the tech-voc graduates and urged them to use what they have learned to secure a sustainable livelihood.

“Your graduation opens a number of opportunities.  Use the knowledge and skills you have acquired to work on your dreams, and provide a viable means to support your families and improve their lives,” he said.

The NAVOTAAS Institute has four training centers located at barangays Sipac-Almacen, North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) Dagat-dagatan and Kaunlaran, and Daanghari.

The centers offer tech-voc courses such as housekeeping, bread and pastry production, barista, wellness massage, dressmaking and tailoring, animation and visual graphics, carpentry, among others. They also hold special courses on Japanese and Korean language and culture.

The NAVOTAAS Institute was recently recognized as one of the Top 5 Best Partners of TESDA in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela cluster.

Also present in the graduation ceremony were TESDA–CAMANAVA representative, Joselito Bautista, San Pakura Corp. owner, Ma. Merlita Watanabe, and the city council.
